A Very Belated Happy New Year!!

Suzi White

Well, I have been very naughty about keeping up with my blog, haven't I?!! So much has happened since the last post - wasn't that Halloween??! Disgraceful! The Holidays came, and they went. For me, it was a very special Christmas. We go back to Ohio every year to spend Christmas with my other halfs family. Well, after us being together for 15 years, he proposed on Christmas Day surrounded by family. It was lovely, and we hustled to get married while we were out there. So, I started the New Year as a wife! Surprise!! Since being back, I've...

It's Getting Spooky Around Here...

It's Getting Spooky Around Here...

.....Halloween is (almost) upon us once again! Our house is THAT house in the neighborhood. As soon as October 1st hits, my partner, He-who-shall-not-be-named(!), is like a kid on Christmas morning. Out comes the boxes from the attic - rats, skulls, monsters and all kinds of creepy madness appears. The massive (polystyrene) gravestones get pulled out from the side of the house, the stuffed dead bodies with ghoulish faces are propped up on the sun loungers and last, but by no means least, the electric chair gets dragged out of the garage. As we get closer to the big day,...

From Baby to Toddler....and on...!

When our beautiful neighbor, J, had her first birthday, I wanted to make her something cute to wear that would last a while - be cool in the Summer, and be able to layer in the Fall. I came across Violet Dress - this is a super cute (& free) pattern on Ravelry and I fell in love with it. Knit all in one piece (yay, no having to sew up!), it is a simple stockinette stitch pattern. I used a DK cotton yarn, something that was washable and cool. Mirasol Pima Kuri would be gorgeous. You could also use Lana Knits...

Books vs Needles! Or Both......

Suzi Alderson

Ah yes, the conundrum of whether to knit or read. Unfortunately, being able to balance both at the same time is not generally possible, unless you have the great skills of never having to look at your fingers as you are working, or figuring out a creative way to prop up your book so you can glimpse back and forth! Not very feasible! My solution, therefore, is - audiobooks! Such a life-saver for those of us that can't live without being immersed in another fictional/factual world. I discovered Audible.com 8 years ago, and cannot imagine life without it. I listen...

The Beauty of Yarn Bombing!

Suzi Alderson

I always found yarn bombing to be so crazy. My logic being - if you have that much time to knit or crochet a tree, you could've finished 3 sweaters! Seemed to me a waste of time and yarn. But......the more I see it, I have come to love it. So much creativity. So much enjoyment. It beautifies the area, and makes a statement. Although considered a form of graffiti, yarn is easily removed and can hardly be considered offensive. The amazing creativity on some of these examples is extraordinary - blows my mind! From bicycles:            And...
